Advantages: its great, better than the film
Disadvantages: too good at times
When I first read this book I finished it two hours before I went to see the film, and the film itself made me love the book even more than I already did! But I have to say that the book its self is far superior to the film, there’s no Tom Bombadil =(! He was such a powerful character in the book. (I’ll say more about the film when I get round to giving my opinion on that) I found myself captivated by the first words (of the book, I still haven't read the 'note on the text'). I found this great book with many ups and downs; it brought many a tear to my eye, both tears of joy and sorrow. The shocking surprises at the end of the second book, were the ones that moved me more than anything else in the whole book (even more than Gandalf and the Balrog!), well making me believe that Frodo was dead was such an unexpected shock the only thing that stopped me reading was the tears in my eyes, and then Sam's heroic rescue (wow). It was twist upon twist each as unexpected as the last and more moving by each one! (My eyes are even welling up now as I remember Sam's torment, poor Frodo... poor Sam!), but enough of my mementos of the book. Except this little one (heehaw), its so cool when Merry and Pippin are three inches taller =D (I bet you can tell I’m short can't you!! grrrr!! Any who saying this book is great, epic, amazing would be an understatement! It is the best book ever written and I love it! If you haven't already read it, why haven't you? I pity you! Go get it read it! Marvel in all its glory. It really is worth it!
