Historical fiction books are amongst my favourite with the likes of Cornwell, Igullden and Manfredi amongst some of the best writers in this area, Simon Scarrow is not as good as them but his books are very good and each one in the series gets better, his books are well written with good characters and strong plots to keep you entertained. The book starts with Macro and Cato in Palmyra a ... Read the complete review

They though they had come through the toughest battles they were ever likely to be faced with, how wrong were they. Personally i enjoyed the first two books the most, its where we got to learn about Cato and Macro's personalities and backgrounds, now however we see that Cato is no longer the scared inexperienced boy he used to be, in many ways he is older than his veteran friend Macro. Macro is soldier ... Read the complete review
