The fourth book in Gena Showalter's Lords of The Underworld Series,
Gena departs from following the Budapest Lords to the Leader of the Greek Lords in this book,
Sabin is keeper of doubt and on a mission seeking one of four mystical objects he and fellow warriors come across a hunters lair that traps women. Their objective: to breed an army of immortal hunters to fight the Lords.
In one cage is the Harpy Gwen, who calls herself meek and considers herself but half a harpy as she has been told by her mother.
This story builds up quite a bit of the myth of the story so far:
The Lords of Budapest have been reunited with those they left behind in Greece, and the Hunters their human enemies have reappeared.
Each Lord is keeper to a demon, for the crime of defying the Gods. Once immortal guards the warrior grew jealous when a box housing escaped demons from Hell was given into the keeping of their fellow warrior, Pandora. They attacked her and opened the box setting the demons free, each warrior is now Host to one of these demons and can no longer live without them. Each man has a butterfly tattoo on his body symbolising this union.
The Lords's enemies the Hunters have a new agenda, to capture and hold the Lords. They will find Pandora's box using 4 mystical objects and return the Demons within, meaning the Lords will die without their Demon half.
The lords learn in this the fourth novel who the true leader of the Hunters is and why he is connected to Sabins new love.
this was a pretty fun book as it involved a new supernatural race the harpy, and the various rules they were restricted by, i thought twists like the way they go into a rage and their pearlescent skin were good, but the weird tiny wings were a bit odd.
I'd suggest you start with the first book in the series and enjoy the ride as they're light and fun to read with not too much of a focus on the sexy scenes but enough romance to warm the heart.
The idea the books are based around is original if complicated.
