Advantages: Helps you understand abuse from a childs eyes.

Disadvantages: You use too many tissues while reading this book.

We all look back over our childhood with memories good and bad, and we all had our problems to overcome, but after reading this I felt as if I had been brought up like a princess. Being grounded or being sent to bed early without any tea is nothing compared to being made to sleep in the garage without food for days on end. Just imagine having to develope a strategic mind at such a young age to avoid being tortured. Imagine knowing that you have mistimed something and the consequences dont bear thinking about but you know whats going to happen. Your body goes into defense mode and your mind freezes until the ordeal is over. The human body and mind are both so amazing and this young child had to prove time and time again that he wasn't prepared to give in to "mother".

I was greatly saddened by the lack of support from his father and brothers. This hateful woman couldn't have been that strong to overpower, surely? I realise that she was suffering from an illness, but at the same time her husband should've stepped in and put a stop to all the misery. This poor mite had his childhood stolen from him. There can never be a more precious time in someones life to savour and I hope that when you read this you will take onboard the burning, poisoning, beating and starvation to name but a few of the horrific treatments he had to endure

This is the first book of a trilogy. I can only imagine what is install for me while reading the second and third. If they bring as many tears to my eyes and as many unexperienced emotions to the forefront, they will be a humbling read.

Summary:
