After reading A Child Called It in which a boy named David Pelzer who is also the author was brutally beaten and starved by his Alcoholic and unstable mother, I just had to rush out and buy the second book in the trilogy, The Lost Boy.

This book is not quite as horrific as the first one but its a great book none the less.

The Lost Boy is based on David's life after he was rescued from his mother by the Police.
It tells you about his life in and out of five different Foster homes trying to find a loving family.

He even tried to runaway from one of them but he didn't get far before he was starving and gave a nice man who fed him his Foster parents telephone number, and they took him back in.

Some of the homes he goes to are really nice and he is very happy there, but something always happens that takes him away from it and forces him into yet another Foster home which may not be as nice, and where there were other children picking on him all day long and foster parents who shouted and made him feel unsafe due to his mothers constant shouting and screaming at him.

Through all of these Foster home his evil mother still continues to taunt him and after everything she has done he still so very much wants her to love him and hold him in her arms like she did back when he was very young and things were good.

He does eventually find a loving couple named Harold and Alice who raise him as their own and for awhile he was very happy there.

David finally decides he wants to leave home and after saying his goodbyes he jumps on a plane and only then does he realize that after all those years he is finally FREE and his mother can no longer get to him.

I really do recommend this book but first you must read A Child Called It. Although The Lost Boy would be a good read even without reading the other one but it would be an even better book if you read them in order as you will then know the history o
f this poor boy.

I suppose you could say this is David Peltzer's Autobiography, and its a very detailed and in depth one at that. It only costs 6.99 which is a bargain in my eyes. It can be found in most book shops.

If you have never heard of this book or the first one then feel free to read my other opinion on A Child Called It which explains about his early years. The third book in this trilogy is Called A Man Called Dave and I can recommend that as well and check back soon as I will be writing about that one too.

My Mum is always saying I should read this books, but I'm always being a wimp and picking something a bit lighter!
