Advantages: shows about the west in the settler days, shows love can come even if slowly, enjoyable reading

Disadvantages: none

I love all of Janette Okes books but the one that I hold a speical fondness for is "Love Comes Softly." Everyone of her books I've read and they are the kind that you can't put down. Just good romance stories and she is expert at putting words together to give you a book that packs a wholop!

When I get ready to read one of her books I make sure I don't have anything else to do because I know I will read the book beginning to end in one sitting. So come with me, bring a cup of coffee or tea, and curl up in your favorite chair and let's enjoy the book: "Love Comes Softly" .

Love comes softly is a appropriate title because they are thrown together by cercumstances and slowly they begin to fall in love. Of course, neither of them realize whats happening. The two main characters are Marty and Clark. At the beginning they are both traveling different paths out in the wilderness and those paths get connected through fate, as you will.

Marty loses her husband while traveling to a new place to live and this happens out on the prairie. Clark had lost his wife a piece of time back and was trying to raise his little girl by himself. All the other people who were traveling with them wanted to send Marty back but she didn't want to go. She wanted to go on.

Clark comes upon a plan that he feels will benefit both of them. She could continue and he would have a mom for his little girl. One problem is he has to get Marty to agree to it. Of course she had some misgivings at first but really there was nothing she could do but agree. It is understood from the start that this is simply a arrangement and no marriage bed was included.

As they continue their journey west there are a lot of hardships that come upon them and we as modern day people might or might not have overcome them. You would have to have been there to realize the odds they were up against. But these hardships are what draw Marty a
nd Clark ever closer and without them realizing it was happening, they were falling in love.
Marty realizes something is changing between the two of them but she can't quite put a label to the difference.
When they first came up with this arrangement, it was with the condition that after a year if Marty wanted to leave Clark would not stop her. As the time draws closer for her to go she starts having second thoughts about leaving. She has come to the realization that something has changed between her and clark but can't quite put a label on what the difference is.

Read this book and you won't be disappointed. It's a real attention getter. After you read this book, of course, I am sure you will want to read more of her books because they all are just as good as this one.

Read all manners of books along the time line, but never managed the American Frontier yet, this might be the first one.....??? Probably after a Dean Koontz when I'm in need of some gentle reading...
Nice op...

Lisa :)
