I borrowed this book in a local British Council office. We're lucky to have one in our God-forgotten Siberian industrial monster of a city. I usually pick up books after looking at their covers and reading the back-cover reviews. This time I was satisfied with the critics' praise and never regretted taking the book. The dialogs are wonderful. The one, in which the reader discovers that a girl at a bus stop who looks like a schoolgirl and wears something like a school uniform might actually be a schoolgirl, is fabulous. The Sunday Times tells me on the back cover that this is a "comedy masterpiece". Well I don't know what book their reviewer was reading but it can't have been this one. Maybe someone slipped the reviewer a copy of High Fidelity by mistake. I'd previously read Sutcliffe's earlier novel "Are You Experienced?" which I'd really enjoyed. Opinion no. 100! Better make it a good one...;) The Love Hexagon is William Sutcliffe's third novel, following the brilliant 'Are You Experienced?' and 'New Boy'. In short, the novel had a lot of high expectations to live up to and unfortunately it falls a long way short.
