As I have mentioned a thousand times before, I am signed up on a website called Bookcrossing.com, and they held bookrings and bookrays which is a book, that people sign up to, to form a kind of list, which then is sorted in shipping preferences so that it's cheapest possible for each person. I decided to sign up to this bookring... Why? I really don't know, I had never heard of Janet Evanovich and I had definitely hadn't heard of this book... If I had seen the picture (which I didn't) then I would definitely not have signed up to this bookring even though a well-known saying had been drilled into me ever since I read my first book: 'Don't judge a book by its cover', this saying totally applies to this book as I found this book AMAZING!
Janet Evanovich is a pretty good writer, I have now read a whole count of 2 books from her, as you'll be able to see, as the next review I plan on writing is "Back to the bedroom" which happens to be another Janet Evanovich books, I shall be adding her books to my wish list so that I can read them all as that is what I want to do. Will the other books be as good? Maybe, maybe not, we'll just have to wait and see.
Right the story line goes a bit like this... We follow someone called Stephanie Lowe, she bought a house from this guy named Ivan Rasmussen, this house is pretty big, and she plans on turning it into a hotel, but it keeps on falling apart and breaking... Then she gets a call from her cousin, saying that she is going to marry someone who will be able to fix all the problems with the house, so Stephanie decides to take the job her cousin does which is that she caters a coastal cruise, but what really annoys Stephanie is that Ivan just happens to be the captain of the boat!
As Stephanie and Ivan keep colliding together they find that there is a slight connection between each another but trying to make that happen is terribly hard when the co-chef is messing up, Stephanie can't even cook what her cousin does. Calamity after calamity happens and then the coastal trip finishes and she's happy to get away from "Ivan the Terrible", but when she finds out her cousin didn't get married, she is more annoyed. Then Ivan turns up on her doorstep and promises to help her with the maintenance problems and pay money for taking a bedroom.
But that's not all, now there is some freaky corpse dwindling around the place and it looks like it is after Stephanie, but what's really going on?
There is only one thing I really didn't like about this book, which was the ending, it was pretty much confusing, but I managed to get my head around it after reading it about 5 times. I don't think it was confusing, more like it was a big surprise and answered all my questions at once, I have to admit that is clever writing and to shock me made me even more surprised.
This book I found amazing, I may have taken a while to read it, but every time I saw the cover, it put me off and I remember trying to find something else to do instead of reading, but I forced myself to read on and I'm soooooooo happy I did so, just the cover is put offing, maybe that's another problem with this book!
This book was re-newed in 2005, before hand it was called "Ivan Takes a Wife", which is a little obvious to the plot outline, but maybe it was a plot to deceive a few people, nevertheless the title is totally different now, and the cover has been updated to the 21st century, however it stands out to the girl/women crowd, when Guys will enjoy this book just as much.
That's it folks, I believe. I thank you all for reading and all comments that you put is always taken into account, thank you!
