Loveless by Yun Kouga centres around Ritsuka Aoyagi a twelve year old boy who's brother Seimei was recently murdered by seven moons. Ritsuka has no memory of anything earlier than two years ago and with this memory loss his personality changed and because of this his mother doesn't believe he's her son and routinely beats him. Soubi was Seimei's fighter unit and after Seimei's death he was instructed to fight for Ritsuka. Soubi frequently tells Ritsuka he loves him which angers Ritsuka because he has difficulty with his emotions. Hmmm...every once in a while a story comes along that challenges my moral and social preconceptions, and I have to state outright this is one such occasion. Don't get me wrong, I ADORE this manga, but it is still a feeling that is very much tinged with strong shades of ambivalence. Aoyagi Ritsuka is a 12 year old boy who has recently moved to a new school. He lost his memory two years ago, and does not recall the boy he once was. That is to say, he has forgotten all about himself, but NOT about certain past events in his life.
