Advantages: Good characters and storyline

Disadvantages: Too long and predictable

This is the first of Marian Keyes books I have read and I must say I will probably not read another. The storyline, characters etc are all of what I look for in a book, however, it was just too long and too predictable. I understand most 'chic lit' is very predictable but once you have worked out what is going to happen you haven't still got 300 pages to wade through like in Lucy Sullivan is getting married.

The book is about Lucy Sullivan, a happy go lucky type girl, who went to see a fortune teller with her 3 friends, Meredia, Megan and Hetty. Lucy doesn't believe the predictions of the fortune teller as she is told she will be married within a year. The predictions given to her friends start to come true and Lucy begins to wonder whether maybe the fortune teller could be right. She tries to weigh up her situation with all the men in her life and tries to work out if one of those could be her future husband.

The characters are all very well represented throughout the novel and allow you to get involved in the story. It is a good read and would be great as a holiday read but you really do have to persisit a little bit with it to get to the end. I was dissappointed and as I said earlier won't be reading anything else by Marian Keyes.

Summary: Good read if you've got patience!
