Nothing special but worth a try

Since I have got my kindle I've been reading different things to my usual chick lit - I wouldn't usually read crime/thriller as this is meant to be, although I was persuaded by that it was a woman sleuth it was centred around so I thought that it could be a nice combination of crime and chick lit. If you have a kindle I'd definitely recommend browsing the free books list every so often!

Despite not knowing what it was until reading this book, lye is what really starts this story off, it is important as you can see by that it features in the title. The main characters in the book are Sophie Mae, Meghan, Erin and Detective Ambrose. Sophie Mae moved in with her divorced friend Meghan and daughter when her husband was tragically killed, and ending up setting up a business working from home making hand made soaps which she really loves. She gets a shock when she goes down to her workroom one day and local handyman, Walter Hanover is dead on the floor with traces of poison in him. The police treat it as a suicide, but Sophie Mae isn't so sure and decides to investigate...

Since it was free it was worth a try and I'm glad I downloaded it, I think its good to get into new types of books and it was good to not have to pay for the privilege! It was meant to be a thriller, and while I was curious to know what happened next it didn't particularly pull me in - I read it in quite a few sittings and if I really like a book I usually just read it all at once. However the storyline was quite good, and some of the twists were quite surprising! The characters were also good I enjoyed the relationship between Sophie and the detective. It is now the price of £6.69!
