This is by no means the worst biography of Aleister Crowley I have read. Many of them do little more than wallow in titillating descriptions of his weaknesses, which, to be fair, were manifold. Martin Booth does at least attempt to provide a reasonably balanced portrait of this infamous figure, and makes an effort to highlight some of his positive achievements. He was, love him or hate him, a remarkable individual, or he wouldn't still be discussed today. This book will only disappoint readers who have a particular interest in magick or mysticism or yoga and who were hoping to understand more than can be gleaned from Crowley's own writings, which are ...

The life and times of Aleister Crowley, best known as the most wickedest man in the world. Aleister Crowley still has this effect on people now, he died in 1947 after spending his life proclaiming he was the beast or anti-Christ. He was also credited for creating a sort of anarchist code of law which consisted of "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" it also would mean others would do the same to you if you were bad. This book is excellent in the way it portrays Crowley using a lot of humour and really shows Crowley as a comic and not this mad monster as in which he seems to have portrayed himself as.
