Cold Mountain
Well written, compelling story
Rather descriptive in places, not to everyone's taste
The Front - Mandasue Heller
A great read!
A little short!
Owl at School - Helen Nicoll
Bright illustrations and popular characters.
Too many speech bubbles.
Oliver's Vegetables - Vivian French
Not just a nice story
Quite a lot of text
Dark Fire - C.J. Sansom
Just such a brilliant read that I could not put down.
It had to end! I could have carried reading on about Shardlake..
The Birth of Venus - Sarah Dunant
rich descriptions of Florence, a page turner
embarrasing sex scenes, overuseof similes
The Road - Cormac McCarthy
One of America's greatest living novellists.
A very fast read.
Family Romance: A Memoir - John Lanchester
A compelling read. Fascinating historical details
Occasional repetitiveness
Life After God - Paul Coupland
Short
Short, rubbish, no story, petty problems of a sad man
The Wizard of OZ - L. Frank Baum
classic tale, easy to read for younger children and more hesitant readers, richly imagined
ill advised abridged adaptions and poor reprints abound, so choose carefully
