This is shock rocker Marilyn Manson's autobiography, written together with Neil Strauss, then a music journalist, and now famous for his book "The Game", and also for becoming a famous pick up artist. The book was published in 1998 by Plexus Publishing. When I got this book I was no Marilyn Manson fan. I owned none of his CDs, and I didn't know much about him. In fact, I had a fairly negative impression of the man an his music until I saw his statement regarding the Columbine High School massacre in the doumentary 'Bowling for Columbine'. America's most controversial rock star (as opposed to Eminem who works more in the hip-hop field) obviously leads a very interesting life, littered with the obvious sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll (although Manson doesn't talk much about his music in this), and other *interesting* things. This biography details Manson's life as a frightened little Catholic schoolboy named Brian Warner to an experimentive teenager, who then metamorphosises into one of the most hated men in America, and one who's been scapegoated for many wrong situations. All in all this is an interesting book to read, and very easy to get into, even for non-literature fans ...

As a Marilyn Manson fan I suppose you'd think I'd be biased. Well I am in a way but let's get one thing straight. I didn't think that this book would be as good as it is. The book chronicals Manson's life from the childhood Brian Warner at religious school, through the kid who finds weird porn in his grandfathers basement, through the high school misfit, through girls and drugs and band members, a seedy journalism article until you meet the Marilyn Manson of the moment; a strong articulate man with opinions on everything - some of the more mainstream than many would like to acknowledge.
