What a fantastic book! Marley and Me is about a man John Grogan and his wife Jenny who buy a dog (Marley) in the first months of married life. This dog is a big dumb furry giant creating havoc day in day out.

Although the book seems to be about the dog, its not. It follows a young couple who fall in love and start a family and tears and smiles that go with it. Its about how a clumsy dog becomes an important part of a loving family and how there lives are affected by him. More importantly its a story that so many can relate to as many have been thorugh or will go through similar events. For example, moving into there first home having there first child and sadly suffering from a miscariage. All this happens with Marley there to cuddle with or to just to create even more chaos.

You fall in love with the dog and Joh Grogan gives you avery personal insight into his family life. Nothing too far fetched happens and the family tend to go on living there normal life. The ending doenst have a massive twist or a miracle its, 'Just life' as they say, but the book was a moving and sentimental story. I laughed cried and even felt frustration with the family and didnt want the book to end. The book I bought contained photos of Marley throughout the book giving it a personal touch.

Summary: Brilliant memoir of a normal family
