Five year old matilda is a budding genius but her parents arnt interested in her at all, she is very intelegent compared with others her own age but her parents fail to take any interest.
To get back at her parents for there lack of interest in her matilda comes up with some great pranks which leave her parents feeling that she is just a naughty child.
Matildas teacher Miss Honey can see how talented matilda is but her headmistress Mrs Trunchball refuses to agree with this as she hates children completley and is absolutley horrid to the children at her school, some of the things she does to them are barbaric.
When matilda gets into trouble with mrs Trenchball for something she hasnt done she gets that angry she knocks over a glass of water without even touching it, this is when matilda realises she has telekinetic powers.
Matilda discusses this with miss Honey and goes to her cottage with her but finds her teacher living in poverty, when matilda enquires why she explaines that her horrid auntie takes all her wages and this auntie turns out to be Mrs Trenchball.
Matilda decides to use her powers to get revenge on mrs Trenchball.
This is an absolutley fantastic book, i loved this when i was a child and always wished i could have telekinetic powers like matilda. This book is so funny with the pranks she plays on her parents and the revenge on her head mistress.
Summary: a realt good book for junior aged children
