Matters of the heart is a book written by Danielle Steel. The main character in the book is called Hope Dunne and she is a top photographer who is happy with her life alone living in New York. She then flies out to London to do a photo shoot involving a famous writer and then her life suddenly changes.
The famous writer is Finn O' Neil and he instantly falls for Hope and after a few romantic dates Hope falls for Finn too, after a couple of months moves in with him to his lavish home in Ireland where everything is going perfectly.
But what Hope doesn't realise is that Finn has a very unpleasant history and is only with Hope for her money but will she realise the danger before it is too late and be able to get away from him before he does anything to drastic to her.
Matters of the heart is very well written by Danielle Steel and is a very complicated story as it did take a while to get into it, but once I really got to grips with it I really enjoyed it as it got you hooked as you try to find out what would happen next to Hope and the other characters.
The book has a very involved plot and I think you need to be able to read it without any distractions as otherwise it would make the story hard to follow and understand as there are some very involved scenes that any lapse in concentration would make it all a little confusing.
I really thought that Hope was a good lead character and I found myself hoping that she would discover the truth about Finn. She is a very likeable character and I thought this made the story a lot more interesting. At first I thought Finn was the perfect man for her but as you find out more about him you really start to dislike him.
I found it a joy to read as it was so well written and even though it took me a few chapters to get into and fully understand the story. Once I got into it however I struggled to put the book down as I found it a really good and engaging read.
The books recommended retial price is £7.99, however I bought it as part of a 2 for £7 deal in Tesco.
