The Jester - James Patterson

Premium Review A FINE READ - NO JESTING! (776 words)
by stuleg - written on 12/04/06 (Very useful, 167 readings)
Rating:

Few writers are guaranteed to get me hooked on a book from the very first pages; luckily James Patterson is one of the few so I picked up one of his latest books, The Jester, with excited anticipation. Eleventh Century France and Hugh De Luc seems to have it all, a loving wife and a thriving Inn situated in the small village of Veille du Pere. Yet Hugh is haunted by the atrocities being metered out to Christians by Turkish Pagans at Antioch, Hugh decides to join a rag tag army to try and rid Antioch of its pagan presence and restore Gods will. The journey is long and tough with the loss of many lives yet the army, now swollen to several thousand, arrive at the city of ...

The 5th Horseman - James Patterson

Premium Review At least I have BUPA (935 words)
by freediveheaven - written on 16/07/07 (Very useful, 160 readings)
Rating:

After some distinctly average attempts in the recent past I’m pleased to say that in my opinion The 5th Horseman is a welcome return to the previous high standards that Patterson has achieved as a thriller writer. Admittedly this book continues the trend of writing with a co-author, in this case Maxine Paetro, which usually signals a drop in quality but with this fifth instalment to features the Women’s Murder Club Patterson has served up a gripping fast paced novel with plenty of twists and turns. The Women’s Murder Club is an informal group of friends whose job roles mean that they support each other in the investigation of crimes, the lead character is Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer ...

The 5th Horseman - James Patterson

Crowned Review Bookie's Favourite or Non-Runner? (1193 words)
by SWSt - written on 29/11/07 (Very useful, 125 readings)
Rating:

I have to confess that although I like James Patterson s books, I ve never really taken to his Women s Murder Club series. Right from the start, it s always seen a little far-fetched; a bit twee and, well, Nancy Drew-ish to me. Nevertheless, having read all the others, when I saw this going cheap in a charity shop, I thought I might as well give it a go. As you can imagine, my expectations weren t high, so I wasn t disappointed! Actually, by some standards, the Fifthth Horseman isn t a bad book. It s certainly very readable and I got through it in under two days, which must surely say something. As always, Patterson has a very enjoyable style, which really gives the book ...
