Golden Buddha - Clive Cussler

Golden Buddha is the first novel from the Oregon Files series by Clive Cussler. We are given a list of all the crew members at the start of the book, and this is absolutely essential to have any chance of keeping up with the story. The plotline is fast paced, and is at times hard to keep track of who is doing what, as this is the first time we are introduced to the characters and there are a lot of characters. The plot revolves around a plan to return the Dalai Lama to Tibet and free Tibet from Chinese occupation. Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino once again fight off the bad guys in a well-written novel by Clive Cussler. Cussler is a master storyteller, and brings his own knowledge into his characters. It has always seemed to me that Dirk Pitt is Clive Cussler s alter ego. (wires!), and eventually are saved by a strange old man, alone in the middle of the virtually uncharted ocean. Another state of the art boat, captained by none other than Clive Cussler! Oh please! This is a peccadillo of Cussler - he has no shame at all about writing the book and always pops up as a character that pulls Dirk from the jaws of death - again, and again, and again. I think Alfred Hitchcock did this with a lot more style and without informing the viewer/reader that, hey, it s me! . Anyway, not to spoil the plot (such as it is) too much, an EVIL corporation wants to obtain the late Dr Egan s formula for environmentally friendly power (oh dear, count the ...
