Get yourself a guiness and start reading (McCarthy's Bar - Pete McCarthy)
Member Name: Trishajs
Advantages: A brilliant read Disadvantages: I gave it away On first glance this book may not sound as appealing to women as it might to men- going around Ireland with the one intent of drinking in every pub named McCarthy's. But I am a women and I loved it - it is so well written. It made me look at history from a totally new perspective and I will never travel anywhere again without paying as much attention to the minutiae of my surroundings as Pete McCarthy did. I am a four star hotel girl - or at least I was until I read this- what a fun thing to do- just go and re-route as the mood suits. I have a friend who lives in Ireland and I have passed the book to him now - as he travels cross country several times a year and I know it will bring him added enjoyment. I shall always remember some of Pete McCarthy's life philosophy- but I won't spoil your enjoyment by telling you my favourite line in the book. (Clue when you read it - it relates to having a plan B). Summary: A "craic" ing good read |
