Elmer's Colours - David McKee ... d never heard of Elmer until my neighbour gave me a bag of books for my 14 month old granddaughter, but she loves this book so much that I ve since done some research and found he is actually a very popular little elephant! Elmer is a bright colourful patchwork elephant and my granddaughter absolutely loves him. Elmer looks fantastic, he is a typical cartoon elephant that babies and young children will instantly warm to but it s the patchwork which really catches my granddaughters eye because the colours are so bright and they all clash wonderfully! Elmer on Stilts - David McKee ... is another great book in David McKee s series of books about Elmer. ~ Who is Elmer? ~ An elephant with a difference! Instead of being a bog standard grey elephant, this lovable patchwork elephant was first introduced to children in 1989 with the book entitled Elmer . I particularly like the concept of Elmer as it demonstrates that we aren t all the same and how his friends and family accept him for who he is, not what he looks like. Not Now, Bernard - David McKee ... as a children s book, Not Now Bernard might perhaps be seen by many as one for the parents who read it aloud as a bedtime story to their little babes. The front cover acts as an introduction to the story, setting the scene. We see a small boy whom we presume to be Bernard, gazing wide eyed at what is obviously a monster, and a fearsome one at that, baring his teeth from on top of a mound. The monster is about as broad as he is tall and is almost all face, with short limbs attached. Opening the cover, we see the monster again, but this time he has his index finger on his mouth and looks as though he thinks he has done something wrong. On the title page we see...
