Meg and Mog books have been popular with children for many years. The Author Helen Nicoll and illustrator Jan Pienkowski started publishing these books in the 70’s. So I am sure a lot of you will have read these books. There are Many Meg and Mog tittles available and there is a TV series for children with the characters Meg and Mog. Meg and Mog are on CITV this week at 12.50.

Meg if you did not know is a witch, Mog her cat not a black cat but a black and white striped cat. They also have a friend owl that appears in their stories.

Tonight as Halloween nears I will tell you of the book Meg’s car. So sit near me and listen quietly. There are 32 pages to this book published by puffin. It measures 202mm x 202cm. The RRP is £4.99p.
This book is suitable for children 3 yrs to 7 years old. Key stage 1 -2.There are under 10 words on each page some pages do not have any words. The text used is simple and clear.
The illustrations bright and bold eye catching colours.

This story is about Meg waking up one day and deciding to go for a picnic. Meg, Mog and Owl decide to go by car. Meg makes a spell the car fly through the air. Now this is where Megs spell goes wrong the car crashes into a tree. Meg’s spells always go wrong Meg Mog and Owl then decide to go to the picnic on traditional witches transport, the broom. This Story is enjoyed by all the children I have read it too they love to hear of the car crashing into the tree.

The illustrations are super the facial expressions are wonderful very expressive.
I enjoy reading this book. I think it is important to enjoy reading to children as the children gain more from story time.

Children will enjoy picking this book up and learning to read with it.
Although this book is quite old I think it still holds magic for children and would be a great Halloweens read

Summary: Meg and mog decide to go for a picnic in a car but after crashing decide to go by broom.
