... (well-deserved) infamy is so overwhelming that the vast majority of people, even in the UK where the book is easily accessible, have no real idea of what it actually says, beyond a vague understanding that it contains the seeds of Hitler's hateful ideology. Many even believe that Hitler wrote it while in power, whereas he was, of course, in prison [7] following the failure of the 1923 putsch. As a convicted traitor, he could have been executed, and probably would have been had he been a Communist, and then... but of course on...more

Premium Review Mein Kampf: A Warning From History (1744 words)

CAUTION: I realise that many people will find the very fact that I am writing about this book here to be offensive, and I can only apologise to them now. I hope you will accept that I thought very long and very hard about doing this article. However, in the end I decided that I should write this piece, if only to make clear once again just how important it is that we should never forget. It is, though, certainly an op that contains some extremely nasty passages. It can't help but do so, as it discusses, and contains extracts from, the most infamous work of Adolf Hitler, a man whose wickedness was responsible for the torture and murder of millions ...

As a student of German at Uni, this book was not required reading, but was recommended at least in it's English form. I've read both - but managed to get only half way through both times before I had to stop. It's the biggest pile of tripe that I've ever read in my life. Hitler's opinions don't need recounting here for the most part. What's astonishing is that he wrote this book as a younger man while he was in prison (partly) - and they still let him out. He has no authoring abilities whatsoever. I'm not averse to reading a book by someone whose opinions are in ...

Premium Review Mein Kampf: Very Interesting insight into a unique mind (323 words)

To stand up and say everything Hitler wrote and did was rubbish is moronic. To say the reverse is the same. I read this book as I was intrigued by the myth surrounding it. Hitler's views were extreme but some were also intelligent and would have stopped the world getting into the mess it is in today. Obviously he had views that some find distasteful but that should not stop you from listening to the good points. I was told that this book was simply a book that went on constantly about his hated of the Jews, this is not the case. He mentions his problems with Jews on about 30 pages of a 900 page book, once every 30 pages! if a man got drunk once every 30 days would ...
