Advantages: Another excellent Anne Rice book. Some massive themes are tackled

Disadvantages: Less vampire orientated than the other books

This book was rich in detail with beautifully described locations and characters. Anne Rice's explanation of God and the Devil was intelligent and very interesting and the description of Hell in particular was vivid and gruesome. I would advise however, not to read this book first if you haven't before read one of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. The vampire element only lasted for half the book, after which point the narrative turned completely to creation, Heaven, hell and so forth. Lestat is again the central character which makes the whole story more accesable. Lestat makes the ideal person from which to see the story unfold, and by the end the reader has the utmost sympathy with him.
While I found the 'creation' topics engaging and thought provoking, first time readers who are fans of vampires might be put off Anne Rice's other books by this lack of vampire action, and that would be a pity.

Nicely written but far too short and really not enough information about the book to halp anyone make a decision about reading it. Let me kno if you add anything and I will be happy to update.

The 'vampire family' is a great path to describe and explore the world ... or even heaven and hell. Long may the chronicles continue.
