Advantages: very deatailed and eay to follow

Disadvantages: let down by the film

I am so glad that i decided to read the book as well as watching the film the book is brilliantly deatailed with happieness saddness and everything in between. But the film misses huge importants chunks out that if added would of in my opinion made the film a whole lot better. The book is about two sisters who are sold to different geisha houses and after several attempts to reunite give up. the youngest one then throws herself into her geishe training after a few problems. she then becomes one of the most successful geisha there is. the book travels through everthing such as love death heartbreak war and a whole lot more. If i was to reccommend this to anybody i would definatly say read this before you watch the film as you will probably follow the film better if you already know what is going on from reading the book

Summary: very good read

I loved this book too.I went through a real oriental love affair for a while. I read Wild Swans, and then Adeline Yen Mah's books in one long orientfest!Sarahx
