awesome book i love the whole series well worth a read.

Firstly i may slightly bias, as i simply adore this collection of books.

Laurell.k.hamilton's style of writing pulls into the book, whether your kicking and screaming or enchanted you have no choice she simply does, you'll find yourself completely emerged in the world of dark magics and sex. This is a fantasy/erotica/love story all rolled into one.
if you are looking to buy this book for a friend i highly recommend you do so. it starts of a little slow but once your past the first chapter you'll love it (assuming this is your thing of course). the details the author brings into this book is mind boggling, it's like you can taste, smell see everything that is happening. There is not alot missing in the collection of books, so far 8 in total. there's something for everyone fights, blood, gore, fantasy, sex, romance, love, murder mystery the list goes one.

the best thing about this collection is that even if you haven't read it from the start you find very quickly you can get into the characters and the story line.
this book would make a good valentines day gift, birthday gift, Xmas present infact just buy it for self if you haven't read a laurell'k'hamilton book before the meredith gentry series is perfect to start you off.
as much as i would love to go into detail about what is in the book, i won't because you should definitely read it your self it's such an experience, and i would not want to ruin the story for you.

if your wanting to find out more about the author and her books she has her very own website, which can be via google, it makes for interesting reading. The great thing about this book is it can be purchased very cheap second hand from various online retailers usually just have to pay mainly for the postage and very very little for the actual book it's self on paperback, tends to be a little more in both respects if your wanting a hardback version though.
but overall i highly recommend this book to both men and women.

as always everything in this review is opinion, always shop around for the best deal and check your facts.
that's all from me once more,

A faerie story in the unseelie sithen.

      The Author
Laurell K Hamilton is a best selling author who has appeared in the New York Times best sellers. She published her first book when she was 29 which was called Nightseer, she then wrote a Star Trek book. Following this she started the Anita Blake series and then onto the Merry Gentry series, which the book I'm reviewing is from. She now lives in St. Louis, Missouri with her husband and daughter.

      On the Back
I am Meredith Gentry, PI. Others know me as Princess Meredith, heir to the darkest throne from faerie has to offer. But at what price? To inherit a court that has ruled through bloodshed and violence for centuries, must I really become that which I dread more?
Enemies watch my every move. From his prison cell, my cousin strives to be rid of me while some amongst the Unseelie await the downfall of my aunt, the Queen of Air and Darkness. And unforeseen others bide their time, poised to strike.
Such is the unease we feel that for the first time in our history we must allow human police into the world of faerie. And I confess I am in need of allies now more than ever - especially since fate will lead me into the arms of Mistral, Master of Storms and the new captain of the queen's guard. Our desire will reawaken powers long forgotten among the warriors of the sidhe. Pain and pleasure await, for me. And danger too, but we are all running out of time...
So reader beware, for herein lies the twilight world of Meredith Gentry, where the erotic and the exotic, the decadent and the deadly come together.
      My Opinion
This book took me awhile to get started which I don't usually find with Laurell K Hamilton books. I was currently rereading all the Merry Gentry books to catch up the story as I had just got the two books after A Stroke of Midnight. While reading the first few chapters I thought I had already read this book but realized I had given up the first time. I wish I hadn't given up so easily as once your past the first few chapters the story gets to a good pace and is a real enjoyable read. We get to meet Mistral for the first time in this book, he has taken over Doyle's place as the new head of the Queen's guard. There is some good interaction between him and Merry. We also get to meet Amatheon another guard who helps Merry with the goddess. I also like that we learn more about the sithen which is where the unseelie live. I always love the interaction between Merry and her Aunt, Queen Andais and there is definitely that in this book. Overall a good read.

      The Book
The story is 512 pages long and is available in all good book stores and on the internet. Prices start from £5.49 and is available in paperback and hardback. The next book in the series Mistral's Kiss.
