Illuminati - Dan Brown

Premium Review If only the Da Vinci code had been this good (180 words)
by JohnC1977 - written on 30/07/08 (Useful, 490 readings)
Rating:

Illuminati, by Dan Brown is probably better known to people now as Angels and Demons, his last book before the world famous "The Da vinci Code". It tells the first story of Robert Langdon, the hero of The Da Vinci Code and is a far more interesting tale, despite the fact that it is yet another of Dan Brown s thriller by numbers. I much prefer Illuminati to The Da Vinci Code, mostly down to the fact that I read it first and recognised the similarities in writing style within the first few chapters of the latter. It tells the tale of an attempt by the long though dead group, known as The Illuminati, to vapourise The Vatican with a bomb. But, although this ...

The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown

Crowned Review The Thrill of Heresy (828 words)
by zebra - written on 05/03/04 (Very useful, 522 readings)
Rating:

I bought the Da Vinci Code (£3.59 from Asda) a couple of days ago and couldn't put it down until I had finished it. Dan Brown has created an exciting and ingenious thriller based upon the plethora of conspiracy theory books dealing with esoteric secret societies that have emerged in recent years. The hero of the story is Robert Langdon an acclaimed American religious symbologist who has just completed what he knows will be a rather controversial work on the symbols of the lost sacred feminine and who becomes involved in the murder of Jacques Sauniere, the eminent curator of the Louvre in Paris. Langdon was due to have a meeting with the curator at ...

The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown

Premium Review Dan Brown's Mona Lisa (323 words)
by neilburden - written on 07/04/04 (Useful, 187 readings)
Rating:

Harvard Professor Richard Langdon is called late one night to a gruesome murder in the Lourve, which starts a series of events, which lead him and French cryptologist Sophie Neveu on a hunt to uncover an amazing historical discovery. But Opus Dei, an extreme religious sect has involved its self and wants this historical find for its own ends. The Da Vinci Code is a unique thriller in which the thrills instead of coming from a big action fight or courtroom drama come from historical revelations as they try to crack the code that will take them closer to their quarry. This book moves along at a terrific speed from the first few pages to the very last one. The plot element ...
