Kureishi has once again delivered the goods with this latest collection of short stories. Midnight all day is ten stories, each laced with subtle humour, and an incredible amount of detail, leaving the reader to believe that this can only be largely autobiographical. As ever, this is really accessible writing. It's simple yet clever, funny yet serious. There's also less emphasis on the male over female dominance that has left some his other works so open to criticism. Check out Four Blue Chairs, for reference, one of the funniest eight pages of fiction(?) I have read in a long time. Some of the stories here are delightful. ... Read the complete review
