Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook - Joshua Piven, David Borgenict: ... the original Worst Case Scenario Survival handbook was published, it covered emergencies many of which were only the kind experienced by Ray Mears and that ilk. The issue of a "Travel" version or sub-section makes all kind of sense, since most of the scrapes that the Man On The Clapham Omnibus will get into are more likely to occur whilst travelling to, or actually being in , foreign climes. I think s...

PurpleSkies How to Walk in High Heels - Camilla Morton
... have to admit that when I initially read this book I wasn t quite sure whether to take it seriously or not. The idea of gliding up and down the isles in Tesco to break in my new pair of heals, as suggested in the book, might seem like a great idea... at least until the walk home with heavy back in each hand! But take suggestions like this with a pinch of salt, apply a little commonsense and this book actually offers some pretty good advice. The first couple of sections are very "Sex And The City". Talk of Manolos crop up continuously throughout the book but particularly in these sections which are all about how to be stylish and how to stay stylish in trick...

... was bought this book as a birthday present. When I saw it was a Girl s guide to everything , I was a bit unsure as to whether it would be boring, like instructions. I was pleasantly suprised, Camilla Morton does fulfill the book s promise. The book has a guide and instructions to EVERYTHING. The book explains things in a light and fun way, nothing like what I had originally expected. The book is in five sections: Greeting Your Public, Being Socially Adept, Tackling your Technophobia, Homes and Gardens and Joining the Jet Set. Camilla Morton has been ably assisted by a host of experts- Manolo Blahnik, who tells you How to Pick a Shoe, Gisele, who explains How to Look...

fuzzybear Overloaded: Popular Culture and the Future of Feminism - Imelda Whelehan
... was a book I read a few years ago and recently returned to in order to refresh my understanding and to see if any of the authors opinions still hold true to this day. This book examines feminism and seeks to answer the question of whether it still has something to offer women in the moder society and whether there is still an inequality and existence of glass ceilings both in business and politics. At the time Whelehan wrote negatively about the ladette culture as being something that actually will hold back the advancement of women rather than giving them equality with the male gender. This is certainly something I can agree with and it is clear that such behaviou...
