Miss Webster is a retired schoolteacher who lives alone in her cottage in the English village of Little Blessingham. Although she is known to everyone in the village, she couldn't be said to be friendly with any of them. It's her manner you see; Miss Webster doesn't mince her words and over the years her brusque manner and dismissive attitude have made her neighbours stay away from her.
