Brilliant! The exploits of the alien superspy (and Bugs Bunny devotee) Soltan Gris had me rolling in the... er, bed. The dekalogy is presented as the confession of the aforementioned Soltan Gris, as he dishes the dirt on his quest to stop Jettero Heller saving the planet Earth (and dishes the dirt on modern life on our crazy planet at the same time too).
Hubbard crafts a masterful tale, which veers from high space opera style romance to populist satire, all mixed together with insane plot twists and got-ya-by-the-seat-of-your-pants-dialogue. While the pace of the books does tend to wear one out (by the eight book I was actually dying for the series to end, more from fatigue than boredom), Hubbard weaves a cracking tale.
If you like space opera, satire so broad you could slap some lipstick on it and take it out for a date, and have the stamina to stick with the series, make Mission Earth top of your Christmas list.
