Mog in the fog was first published in1984. BY William Heinemann .
I am reviewing the Picture puffin book published first in 1986.
There are several books in this Meg and Mog range I reviewed Meg in a car recently.
Some of the book’s feature Meg as the main character in the title some Mog others with both Meg and Mog. All books contain both the Meg and Mog characters and their friend Owl.
These picture puffin books measure 202mm x 202cm making them a good size story book to read to a small group of children. Or for a child to read on their own. They are suitable for children 3 yrs (and younger) to 7 years old. Key stage 1 -2.

Are you sitting comfortably and I will tell you about the story of Mog in the fog..
In this story when Meg and Mog fly out of the window Owl is staying at home. Goodbye Owl says Meg. Why won’t you come? Says Mog.
Meg and Mog continue their journey “Meg wanted to climb the highest mountain in the world”
They find a Sherpa and his Yak to take them to the top of the mountain. They cross a “very old bridge”
Meg and Mog shelter from the snow in a cave and the Sherpa makes tea he put butter in it.(I hope the children I am reading this book do not put butter in their parents cup of tea)
The sun came out so on they trek Mog finds LARGE footprints in the snow.
Then the fog came down “They were lost in the fog” Meg hunts for and calls Mog but she could not find her so she makes a spell. The fog lifted and Mog was found. When the fog rolled away “EEEEEK!!” they come face to face with a Yeti,
“They all ran and did not stop till they got to the top”
When they are at the top of the mountain the Sherpa and his Yak wave goodbye as Meg and Mog fly off on their broomsticks home. (Wish I could fly home on my broomstick from the top of mountains and hills it’s always easier to climb up than coming down.)
“It was tea time” “Pass the butter” says Mog
I really enjoy reading Mog in the fog. The story is fun, There is a picture of Meg landing and her cauldron landing on top of her head going BONG and Mogs head and wide eyes peeping into the tea cauldron with good butter in it really does express YEUK as does Megs expression closed eyes and pursed lips.
The pictures are super , vibrant colours simple drawings . The images of Meg and Mog are easy to copy for art work on your classroom walls
