This book is tremendous, I bought the third edition when I started as an undergrad at Cambridge and still find it useful when revising for my finals...eek! It is well thought out, dealing with complex issues at a simple level first, then advancing toward the frontiers of current knowledge. If you're interested in molecular biology then this is the best place to start. Likewise if you're starting a biology degree soon be assured that this book will be on your reading list. My Family and Other Animals - Gerald Durrell
Charming and funny.
English literature teachers might try to ram it down your throat and force you to write interminable essays on it. Ignore them for they are disciples of satan.
Redemption - Stanley Williams
An interesting read.
Not wholly convincing.
Dear Zoo
Simple, bright and entertaining book
none
The Tiger's Child - Torey Hayden

A lengthy update of the first book to kick proceedings off.
Time - Andy Goldsworthy

If Only It Were True - Marc Levy
simple, heart wrenching and witty love story
not out in paperback yet and will surely be a few years til the movie
Bruce Chatwin - The Songlines
Interesting subject, challenging read
Some readers may find it heavy, high element of philosophy

Really gets you involved in the characters stories
Small sideline story is unnecessary

Honest and moving
