Advantages: Lots of games and activites

Disadvantages: Not organised as well as it could be.

If you have ever stared at a block of Chinese text in utter incomprehension, you can have some idea of what millions of children face as they struggle with the basics of reading and writing. Montessori Read and Write breaks the task down into steps, making it all seem a lot less daunting.

Chapter one deals with "windows of opportunity", the idea that there are periods of a child`s life in which he or she is most able to learn particulat skills. For language this is under the age of six, and for this reason the exercises in this book are designed for children up to that age.

Good op - very balanced view. I think some aspects of Montessori are great, but others worry me a little.
