I picked up the proof of the second book to this series on a whim; I'm so glad I did! This is by far one of the best books (and series!) that I've ever read; Briggs managed to reawaken my love for fantasy/SF and now I can't get enough of them! Mercy Thompson, our heroine, is a mechanic living in the Tri-Cities in Washington. However, she also happens to be part-coyote! Right from the word go we learn that Mercy is a kick-ass character. Not only does she own a garage, but she also has to contend with her next door neighbours, who happen to be a big pack of werewolves. Hurray! A book I can rave about! Moon Called is the first in an urban fantasy series set in the area of the Tri Cities in Eastern Washington State and featuring Mercy Thompson, car mechanic and walker. The term walker is derived from 'skinwalker' a native American term for people who wear animal skins and take on the characteristics of that creature. However Mercy isn't a skinwalker she can shapeshift into the form of a coyote.
