In Russ Tobin, Stanley Morgan created a character that rivaled Austin Powers as the coolest dude around. I was in my impressionable teens when I discovered these books, the main character, Russ Tobin, starts off in the first novel (The Debt Collector) as a 20’s something Insurance Salesman in Liverpool, he is handsome and has a way with women, in his own words ‘I get the thumbs up from women more often than not’, but he bored with his hum-drum life.
