First book i ever read by Nora Roberts as recommended by a friend. Morrigan's Cross is part of a trilogy but i think it would have worked better as 1 book in 3 parts. All 3 books are a love story between 2 of the 6 main characters. Each story starts around the same time and i think it would have been better to have them all intertwined rather than seperate books.

The book is about a 12th century Irish sorceror (Hoyt) who gets visited by Morrigan (a god) to make an army to defeat the vampire queen, Lillith, after she turns his brother (Cyan) into a vampire. Hoyt has to gather another 5 people to start his army and it see's him travel into the future where most of this book is set. Some in New York and some back in present time Ireland at his formor home.

Even though Hoyt is supposed to be the main character of this book, i think its equally about the other 5 main characters. Because of this i think Hoyt comes across as a little boring and not very interesting, instead of the powerful sorceror that he is.

Hoyt finds love with a witch from the present. So vampires, witches and time travel etc are a bit silly in their own right, the love story was even sillier. After finding out the world might end, making an army, travelling through time and making up with his now vampire brother, Hoyt finds love with Glenna and they kind of get married all in the space of a couple of weeks. Its a bit too far fetched for me. Maybe it was the whole world ending thing that made it this way but it seems quite unbelievable. Ok so the book is full of vampires, witches, shape shifters etc..but i do like to find the truth about something in a book.

If you're into fantasy and romance at the same time give this one a go. its more fantasy than romance but it was a nice part to the story.
