Not Now, Bernard - David McKee
by frangliz - written on 11/04/08 (Very useful, 239 readings)
Rating:
about six. Not Now, Bernard has delighted children for more than twenty years now; some that heard or read the first edition are now nostalgically reading it to their own children. I would definitely recommend it either for reading aloud or for early independent reading. It is attractive both visually and in terms of a story that captures the imagination of a child who can identify with Bernard s boredom and loneliness. Not Now Bernard by David McKee Red Fox, 1984 Paperback, 26 pages ISBN 0099240505 Price ...

my pants with excitement when I saw it as the memories from my childhood came flooding back. Not now Bernard is a children s book written by David Mckee and was first published in 1980. It is available from all good book stores and costs £4.99 although I am sure you could get it a little cheaper from Amazon or Ebay or you could even do what I did and borrow it from the library for a few weeks. The story tells of a young lad named Bernard who is trying to tell his mother and father about a monster that has appeared in the garden. Whenever Bernard tries to get their attention, they are just too busy to listen to him so Bernard decides to try and make friends with the ...

finding a new book from the library. Elmer is a multicoloured patchwork elephant who loves to have fun with his friends in the jungle. He was created by David McKee who also brought us Mr Benn in days of old. *The Story* This story starts with a very worried Tiger, telling Elmer about a stranger that has arrived in the jungle. " Elmer, he said, there s a stranger around and he s acting very strangely. He jumps and falls over. Strangers often act strangely; that s why they re strangers, said Elmer. As Elmer goes to find out who this stranger is, Lion joins them and also tells him about this strange chap. He also tells Elmer that the stranger looks very ...
