Advantages: Great kids' book

Disadvantages: None

The 13th book in Roger Hargreaves' Mr Men is Mr Daydream. This must have been quite a hard one to imagine a picture for, but Hargreaves captures him perfectly: a blue cloud with a happy expression on his face. He looks like he's away with the fairies! The Mr Men books were first created in 1971 after Hargreaves' son asked him what a tickle looked like. The author then examined a number of different actions and emotions would look like in human form and wrote short books about them.

Mr Daydream, as I have explained, is a blue cloud-shaped man with a beaming smile. As he goes about his day and gets bored, his active imagination takes over and starts wandering. He dreams he comes across this boy named Jack, and together they share in a number of adventures and meet some creatures and people.

This book doesn't really carry much of a moral to the story, but it does show us what it's like to daydream. The boy Jack sneaks out of class in his daydream, and I remember actually daydreaming about this book while I was in class one day at school, so as to whether it's a good book for kids or not, I guess whoever is reading it at the time would have to impress that it's not good to do what Jack was daydreaming about in class and sneak out of a lesson. Other than that, it is as magical as the other books in the series. The illustrations are vibrant and colourful, and are on the right hand pages, and the writing is on the left hand pages.

The Mr Men books retail at £2.50 each and are available from most bookshops. I recommend them all as well as the Little Miss books.

Summary: Mr Men No.13 Mr Daydream
