... scrunched up eyes. It is this picture of him that is on the front cover of the book. Above this picture is his name in block, black capitals. If you turn the book over you will find smaller pictures of all the other Mr Men characters alongside their names and numbers. This in my opinion is a brilliant feature because it makes the task of knowing which book to purchase and read next that much easier. The price of the book is also located on the back. These books now retail around the £2.50 mark but can be purchased for...more

My Grumpy is another character in the popular Mr Men collection. He is a rectangular shape and blue in colour and he wears a green top hat. The book has a white cover with a picture of Mr Grumpy and the title at the top in black lettering. The back cover of the book shows small pictures of all the characters in the Mr Men collection THE STORY The book begins by telling us it is a summer night and Mr Grumpy is home in Crosspatch Cottage where he decides to sit down and pick up a book. He did not read the book, he tore all of the pages out of it as he does not like books. The following morning he pulls out ...  Read the complete review

As a young child the Mr Men and Little Miss series of books were always a firm favourite of mine. They were so popular in my house that I had the teddies, the bedding, the curtains, posters, and mugs. I could go on but I'll stop. Come to think of I still have most of that stuff. Anyway as usual I digress. The point is however that once you start reading these books your love for them begins to grow and in my opinion it is this that has made the series so popular. Mr Grumpy is number 27 in the Mr Men series, which contains 46 books written by Roger Hargreaves and later his son Adam. Mr Grumpy is an oblong shaped blue character with a large dark blue nose and a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Mr Grumpy - Roger Hargreaves: Smile...frown...smile...frown (183 words)

When I was younger, I always used to take Mr Men and Little Miss books into school for the teacher to read to the class at the end of the day. I'd passed them on to my silbings however, and recently stumbled across them when I was holidaying. I decided to give some a read, and opened up book number 27, 'Mr Grumpy'. Mr Grumpy is a miserable looking character, an enormous frown on his square blue face. In his story, Mr Grumpy bumps into Mr Happy, almost literally, who is not pleased with his grumpiness. Mr Happy decides to try and find a way to cheer Mr Grumpy up, but how will he succeed? This book, written by Roger Hargreaves, is quite an ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Cheer up, grizzly guts! (225 words)
by - written on 09/10/08 (Very useful, 14 readings)
Rating:

Mr Grumpy is the 27th of the popular Mr Men children's books written and illustrated by Roger Hargreaves. The books were a favourite of mine when I was a child, and now my son loves them as well. The author started writing them in 1971 after his son asked him what a tickle looked like and he drew it, resulting in the first book in the series, Mr Tickle. Mr Grumpy is a tall, rectangular shape. He is blue with a green hat and has the grumpiest face you've ever seen. One day, he comes across Mr Happy, and stamps on his foot. He doesn't apologise, but what will Mr Happy do about it? Can he make Mr Grumpy get rid of his grumpiness? The book is a good one ...  Read the complete review
