... great feature in my opinion as it makes it easy for you to keep track of which books you have yet to buy and read. My copy of Mr Cheerful however doesn't have pictures of the final three Mr Men creations as it was purchased long before these final three stories existed. My copy is so old in fact that it has the price tag of £1.25 on the back. In fact looking through my Mr Men collection I have even found books that only have the first 39 characters on them that cost only 99p. Unfortunately the books do not cost this ...more

Premium Review Mr. Mean - Roger Hargreaves: Old Meany (721 words)
by - written on 09/11/08 (Very useful, 100 readings)
Rating:

The Mr Men series of books has been well loved for many, many years. Roger Hargreaves wrote the first 39 books and his son Adam wrote the final seven. Adam was actually Roger's initial reason for writing the books, as one day he asked his dad what a tickle looked like and inspired Roger to write Mr Tickle. Each book tells the story of a different Mr Men character and this book in question, Mr Mean is number 19 in the series, meaning it was written by Roger Hargreaves. Like all of the Mr Men and Little Miss books the front cover of this story is extremely simple. In the centre of the book is a picture of Mr Mean and above this picture is printed Mr Mean's name ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review No need to be so mean, Mr Mean! (273 words)
by - written on 08/10/08 (Very useful, 14 readings)
Rating:

Mr Mean is the 19th in the series of Mr Men books created by Roger Hargreaves in 1971. I loved these books when I was a kid, although this was I wasn't too keen on because Mr Mean really is shown to be mean. The book has also been published as Mr Stingy. Mr Mean is completely mean. He lives on his own in a run down house and uses boxes for his chairs, refusing to pay for anything. He keeps all his money stored in a box and even gave his brother a lump of coal for Christmas! One day, a wizard visits him, shows him some magic, and then Mr Mean tells him he is very poor, as his living standards are so low. The wizard, however, accidentally spills ALL of Mr Mean's ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Mr. Mean - Roger Hargreaves: How Mean (646 words)
by - written on 16/07/08 (Very useful, 159 readings)
Rating:

Mr Mean is number 19 in the Mr Men collection. He is a sausage shape and is blue in colour. He has a yellow round nose. The cover of the book is white and has a picture of Mr Mean and the title at the top in black lettering. The back cover of the book is also white and has smaller pictures showing the other characters available in the collection. THE STORY The story starts by telling us a bit about Mr Mean. He lives in a very run down house which is in need of painting and new windows. The inside of the house is the same, there are no carpets, curtains or pictures. Mr Mean made his furniture from old orange boxes and he even complained ...  Read the complete review
