Advantages: a lovely story, clear and simple to read

Disadvantages: quite short

The Mr Men books are absolute classics that should definitely not be buried by today's generation. As a child I had a few but never the full set with that plastic house thing you could keep the books in. In hindsight I didn't need it and it wouldn't have really made me much happier but it's just one of those things! Recently my boyfriend and I have got into the habit of buying each other Mr Men books with traits that we may have, and in my case Mr Clumsy, because I am, let's face it... Clumsy.

Mr Clumsy is #28 in the Mr Men series so he's not one of the earliest characters like Mr Tickle for example. Recently some newer books have come out that just aren't the same, whereas this is really a good classic Mr Men. The story is simple and each double page has a well illustrated photo on the right, with simple easy to read text on the left. A child who has been reading well for a couple of years will easily be able to tackle these books, and if they can't, an adult will surely help out because they are such charming stories to tell.

Mr Clumsy as a character is of course clumsy, and the story sees himself getting into pickles, such as accidentally pulling off a door handle etc. He's nice and green with lots of messy hair and untied shoes. This can provide an additional message for children as to what being clumsy is, which I suppose is a good thing.

Why not buy somebody Mr Clumsy for somebody next time you need a gift for the slightly accident prone person in your life? At only £2.50 what a bargain!
