Advantages: encorages reading
Disadvantages: none
Roger Hargreaves has written about 40 books about the Mr Men /miss and their exploits. The first one Mr Tickle was writer in 1971. I have read many. Mr men books are great Simple words lovely pictures in bold bright primary colours. Mr Men books are about 4 inches 9cm square with few pages. They are great to pop in a bag or leave in the car super to take on a trip to anywhere to keep your little ones happily amused. Mr men books are suitable for children of 3 to 7 years old. They are good to read to children younger than that starting the reading habit at an early age. I am sure you must have seen /read a mister man book at sometime in your life. The Mr men Mr Tickle, Mr Happy, Mr Messy Mr Chatterbox and the many other Mr Men all have the personality of their names, Mr Tickle delights in Tickling everyone, Mr Messy well he makes such a mess whatever he does. These books are cheerful books silly and fun. They catch a child’s imagination and the story encourages them to read the simple words. These books also make quite good silly presents for an adult May be a Mr Naughty or a Mr Greedy or maybe Mr Strong for the love of your life. Also available are Little Miss books these arevery similar. The little miss books were written after Mr men books became popular and carry he same ideas just the gender of the person is changed there is little miss sunshine , little miss naughty , little miss trouble little miss neat, Mr men books retail for £ 1.99 last time I looked There is a lot of Mr men/miss merchandise around pens pencil cases, mr men/miss toys, puzzles all bright and attractive. clothes with the character on,I have seen little miss naughty knickers . There is also a site I found today that I think would entertain children hhtp://mrmen.com .I shall explore it with the children at school next week. Oh no work tomorrow must go now and prepare myself thanks for reading Mary.
Oh yes After all the bad press about children and education, please help us help your kids, encouraging reading at home is a way to help sit with your little ones get them into a habit of looking /reading books Mr Men are a good one to help this. (Sorry for that last nag)

Muddy250 - 27/11/03 I gave it a VU anyway, hope it transfers when it's moved! We used to read to our daughters every day, now they read all the time.
