Advantages: Memories of being young

Disadvantages: Have to read all of them

They're not called classics for nothing are they?

Along with Thomas the tank, Noddy etc, the Mr Men books are ones that can be read over and over throughout the changing decades.

Pokemon, Teletubbies, the Tweenies, they'll all come and go, and I can honestly say that I dont think i'll be reading about Pikachu to my great-grandchildren. But Mr Happy, Mr Chatterbox, Mr Tickle? I think so.

In twenty years, who will remember Milo, Bella, La-la? I'll always remember the Mr Men, from my childhood, and I'm nearly in my thirties. They're classics, and always will be. I'm so glad my son loves them to, as it gives me a opportunity to relive my childhood. Great!!

I have to say, I'd hadn't previously considered the Mr Men as classics. But you are totally right - they are fit to join Alice, Toad et al. The classic scenes - Mr Small with his half a pea - Mr Messy spruced up - Mr Sneeze sans red nose - they are simple, funny, incisive and pomposity-pricking.
