I want you to know about this person I've met recently. He's nothing to write home (or, indeed, to dooyoo) about. He's as antiseptic and inchoate as they come. His name is Mr Phillips. Don't you just hate the name, Mr Phillips? Why couldn't he use his first name, Victor, like the rest of us? Or at the very least, Victor Phillips? That would already sound much better. I could survive a meeting in a pub or a park with a Victor Phillips, but dear God no not with a Mr Phillips, especially one who ever so infuriatingly insists on referring to himself throughout as Mr Phillips. Mr pedantic, more like it. Accountancy I don't understand but have ...
