Mr Tickle is number 1 in the Mr Men collection. He is a round shaped person with exceptionally long arms and is orange in colour. He also wears a blue hat. The cover of the book is white with a picture of Mr Tickle at the bottom and the title above in black lettering. The back cover of the book is also white and has smaller pictures showing the other characters available. THE STORY The book starts with it being a warm sunny day and Mr Tickle is in his house in bed. We are told that there is such a thing as a tickle and that they are small and round and have arms which stretch and stretch and stretch. Mr Tickle is fast asleep in ... Read the complete review

Mr Tickle is the first book in the series of 46 Mr Men books. First published in 1971. It is written by Roger Hargreaves. A loveable character is he. Mr Tickle has extraordinary long orange arms attached to a round orange body, always has a big smile on his face and wears a small blue hat. If you didn't know, Mr Tickle lives in a place called Happy Land. He is a very clever chappy, having those long arms come in very handy sometimes. The book I am reviewing is the paperback version and has 18 pages in total split between writing and pictures. We bought our copy for £1.49 from our local Sussex Bookshop, though the back of the book says its RRP is £1.99. We ... Read the complete review

Mr Tickle is the first and original Mr Men, which appeared in 1971. He was to be the first in a long line of short stories produced by Roger Hargreaves and later, on his son Adam. His appeal has not faded throughout the years and he is still a favourite. My son was drawn to this book and it started the Mr Men and Little Miss frenzy now happening in our house. Mr Tickle is a small round orange being with extraordinarily long arms that stretch and stretch and are very handy for tickling. He appears on the cover of this book with a very wide smile and lifting his little blue hat as if to say hello. The story starts with Mr Tickle asleep in his ... Read the complete review

I have truly adored the Mr Men and Little Miss books throughout my childhood as has my younger brother. The books are all written by Roger Hargreaves who was inspired to write them after his son asked him what a Tickle was one day. This tiny question sparked in Hargreaves' imagination and soon these fantastic stories about wonderful characters that capture the imagination of children where filling the shelves and flying off them just as quickly. The Mr Men series itself contains 46 stories of which 43 where written by Roger Hargreaves, the final three being written by his son Adam, who was the original inspiration. Each book has a picture of the character on ... Read the complete review

When I was younger, I always used to take Mr Men and Little Miss books into school for the teacher to read to the class at the end of the day. I'd passed them on to my silbings however, and recently stumbled across them when I was holidaying. I decided to give some a read, and opened up book numbe 1, 'Mr Tickle'. Mr Tickle is quite a funny looking character, with an oval orange body with exceptionally long sprawling arms. His little blue hat balancing on top of his head adds to his cheeky personality. In this story, Mr Tickle goes around the town, with his long arms stretched out, tickling those around him, such as the school teacher and the police man, before ... Read the complete review
