Advantages: good read, funny
Disadvantages: none
This review was written by my daughter who is practicing, before opening her own account. The Mum-minder is yet another of Jacqueline Wilsons' award-winning books. In this hilarious account of a chaotic week in the life of a single figured girl she captures the empathy of a young girl this time in the situation of running her mum's child minding service and looking after her mother who is ill with the flu! Sadie, an independent eight year old is not only left to look after four babies and toddlers including her baby sister Sara when her mum gets the flu, but she also has to look after her mum. Jacqueline Wilson is one of my favourite authors and this read certainly lives up to my expectations.

- 14/10/01 Hello Merv. You should have told us your daughter's name! As it is we're going to have to say "hello daughter"!
Hello Merv's daughter. I just love Jacqueline Wilson. She's one of my favourites too. I think I like the one where the little girl gets run over but stays around with her friend even though she's died. Have you seen the film Truly Madly Deeply? It's a bit like that I think. Lovely book, and it made me cry. I think I'm going to write a top ten opinion about children's books and JW will get in there! Um... my other favourites are probably Roald Dahl and David Almond.
There are some sites where you can write like you can on dooyoo, and you can put fictional stories on them too. The best one I think is:

The re are also lots of other places you can put book reviews. If you want to know any of them then you or your dad can send me an email and I'll look them all up for you. My address is on my profile page.
Hope to see you writing a lot more, wherever it is! |

- 14/10/01 I don't know how old your daughter is but I wish her well. Maybe she needs a bit more guidance, let her read some ops first and see how others do. :o) |
