The colours are earthy and pastel like, and it doesn't jump off and hit you, but it is nice and calm. This lovely children's book tells the story of a little chick and its mother. The chick keeps getting into trouble, potentially annoying its mum. Every time it asks the mum if she loves it, and the mum says yes. At one point the mum shouts at the baby and their relationship is really put to the test. The nicest thing about this book are the illustrations which are watercolours. There's something really nice and old-school about them, and you can't help but like them. On our weekly visit to the library I was searching through the books for Noah and came across this one. I had a quick flick through and decided it might be a nice to bring home and read. The book is written by Jeanne Willis and illustrated by Jan Fearnley. It's quite a new one and was only printed last year (2008) by Walker Books LTD. The story tells of a chicken and it's baby chick. The baby chick gets himself into all sorts of predicaments on purpose, only to ask his mother if she still loves him and why.
