Music & Silence - Rose Tremain

“Read this!”, my dad chimed as he thrust the book into my hands. I looked at the cover - dull colours, oil painting, old man - GOSH the enthusiasm flowed. But as they always say : don’t judge a book by its cover. Once I got into it, this book enveloped me with its descriptions of life in the 17th Century Danish court. Not a subject I would immediately look for for absorbing reads. The story revolves around English lutenist, Peter Claire, and his relationship with Danish King, Christian.
