... chapters to the latter. I am not sure if you are not a fan of Russell if you would enjoy this book, although prior to listening to his radio show I did not think I would like him. I think it is definately worth a read either way. His writing style is amusing and easy to read. One downside of this book if you do follow Russell, is that a lot of the material has been used in his radio show and his stand up routines, so it can get a bit repetative, and on several occasions I was left thinking - I know this already!...more

Firstly I'd like to point out that the book is by Russell Brand, not Russell Banks, but when I tried to add the correct product ie. Under Russell Brand, Dooyoo have sent me to write my review here so here goes. For those of you who haven't heard of Russell Brand he is a comedian/presenter with his most note able things to date probably being that he was the host of Big Brother's Big Mouth for many years, his own show Ponderland and he has been absolutely hilarious teamed up with Noel Fielding on the Big Fat Quiz of the Year. Many associate Russell Brand, merely with his trademark sayings such as "dinkle" but he is so much more than that. ...  Read the complete review

One of the Christmas presents i was most looking forward to getting was the autobiography of Russell Brand. Ingeniously entitled, "My Booky Wook". Having read numerous reviews of the book i thought this was going to be the perfect book for those cold nights. On the professional circuit the book gained mixed reviews with newspapers columnists in The Observer saying that the book "puts most other celebrity memoirs to shame" whilst Private Eye Magazine claimed the book showed that Brand was Self obsessed. The beginning of the book starts in a sex addiction clinic (cleverly named the winky nick) and immediately you know this is not ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review My Booky Wook - Russell Brand: I Lovey Wovey It! (744 words)

Russell Brand is a bit of an enigma. I first saw him presenting Big Brothers Big Mouth and to be honest I turned off because I was so sick of hearing him talk about his genitalia. Then I started to see him on other programmes on channel four and he seemed to have more than one facet to his character. True, he is certainly eccentric and has a massive ego but instead of being repulsed by his crudeness and annoyed by his flamboyance I started to like him. My Booky Wook has got to be the most irritating name for a book I've ever heard. The title alone (which he used as a working title while talking about the book to his radio 2 listeners) was almost enough to put ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Booky Wook (192 words)

I first became a fan of Russell brand after seeing him on the big fat quiz of the year 2007. I then watched his live shows, ponderland and other TV presenting he did. I found his style of comedy so different to every other comedian out there and his choice of words made the simplest of situations/sentences hilarious. My Booky Wook was the first autobiography i had ever read so i didn't really know what to expect from it or if i would enjoy it. It turns out it was written exactly how he speaks and you find yourself imagining it coming from his voice in your head as you read it. I was drawn into the fact he lead such an interesting & hurtful life and ...  Read the complete review

I must admit that I now really like Russell Brand and have taken to catching up on his older work but it did take a while for his style and personality to grow on me. As in daily life, the more times you try to like something, the easier it becomes and the same is definitely true for Russell Brand. Russell's 'Booky Wook' is a very candid and comprehensive of the entertainer's life history up to very recently. The book is split into four sections which span through the major stages of his life. many people who release autobiographies tend to have some input but draft a 'ghost writer' to write the most part of the book. In this case though, it is clear that ...  Read the complete review

A good story with many funny moments The end came about a bit abruptly, couple of editing errors

Can be read as a one off thriller or as part of the Charlie Parker franchise Some of the elements maybe lost on those not familiar with Charlie Parker novels
